The short version

SpaceRaven analyzes your Photos library on your device to help you find storage you can safely recover. Nothing about your photos, videos, or your library ever leaves your device. SpaceRaven has no servers, collects no analytics, and does not require or support an account.

What SpaceRaven accesses

With your permission, SpaceRaven reads your iOS Photos library through Apple's PhotoKit framework:

  • Metadata for every photo and video you grant access to, including creation date, favorite status, file size, and pixel dimensions.
  • Pixel content, transiently, to run on-device analysis: duplicate and near-duplicate detection, blur and face-quality scoring for keeper selection, and text recognition on screenshots to classify them.

SpaceRaven does not request access to Files, Contacts, Location, Health data, Microphone, or any other permission beyond Photos.

What SpaceRaven doesn't access or do

  • No network code. SpaceRaven does not upload your photos, videos, metadata, or any derived information anywhere, at any time.
  • No third-party SDKs. SpaceRaven does not use any third-party SDKs, analytics services, or advertising frameworks.
  • No account required. SpaceRaven does not require you to create an account or sign in.
  • Sandboxed to Photos. SpaceRaven cannot see files outside your Photos library. It has no access to iCloud Drive, other apps' storage, or other cloud services.

What SpaceRaven stores, and where

All storage is local to your device, in the app's own sandboxed storage:

  • Cleanup history: what was deleted, when, and how much space it recovered. This stores item counts and byte totals only, never the photos or filenames themselves.
  • Storage snapshots: aggregate byte totals over time, used to show your storage timeline and forecast.
  • Diagnostics: crash and performance data captured by Apple's own MetricKit is stored on your device only, capped to the most recent 20 records. You can view or export it yourself from the Trust Center's Diagnostics screen. SpaceRaven does not transmit this anywhere on your behalf.

Text that SpaceRaven reads from a screenshot to classify it is never stored. Only the resulting category and, if present, a date are kept. Content hashes used for duplicate detection are recomputed each time SpaceRaven scans and are not persisted between sessions.

These local files participate in the standard iOS device and iCloud backup you already control in Settings, the same as any other app's local data. SpaceRaven does not separately transmit them anywhere.

Deletion

When you delete a photo or video through SpaceRaven, it uses iOS's own deletion flow. Deleted items go to your device's Recently Deleted album and remain recoverable there for 30 days before iOS removes them permanently. SpaceRaven does not permanently destroy anything itself.

If iCloud Photos is turned on, deletions sync across every device signed into that iCloud account, and the 30-day recovery window is shared across those devices, not per device. This is standard iOS/iCloud Photos behavior, not something specific to SpaceRaven.

Changes to this policy

If SpaceRaven ever adds a feature that changes what is described above, such as a feature that would send data off your device, this policy and the in-app Trust Center will be updated first. The change will also be reflected in the app's version history.
